How To Make Salisbury Steak
Let’s get started preparing our ingredients.
First, take your first onion and dice it up. Mince it pretty finely. Add half a cup of breadcrumbs, two eggs, Worcestershire sauce, two types of meat, parsley flakes, salt, and pepper. Form them into patties.
Turn your Instapot to the saute mode on high. Start slicing up your second onion. You’re going to cut it into thin slices.
It’s time to put about two tablespoons of oil into the Instapot. Now that it’s hot, we’ll go ahead and start browsing our patties four at a time.
Once they’re brown, we’re going to be flipping them over. It will be about three minutes on each side, three to four minutes, depending on your Instapot.
Take them out and repeat with the rest of the batches. Once they’re all done, I pour in some wine to deglaze the pan.
Then I added two cups of water with two tablespoons of bullion beef base, tomato paste, mushrooms, and patties. Close the lid and set the vent to the ceiling.
Now we’re going to turn on the time. Hit cancel, put on high pressure, and set the time for 10 minutes.
After it cooks for 10 minutes, you’re going to let it sit under natural pressure release for 25 minutes. Then do a final quick release to let the rest of the steam out of the pot so you can open up the lid.
Making The Sauce
Now it’s time to remove the patties from the Instapot so we can finish up the sauce. We’re going to have to thicken it up a bit.
We start with removing all the patties out of the pot.
Now we will hit cancel and put on our saute mode again. I will take four teaspoons of broth from the patties and mix them into my corn starch to make a slurry.
I’m going to pour it in to start thickening our sauce. As you can see, it’s going to start bubbling and thickening as you keep stirring.
Now, we’re adding two ounces of cream cheese to lighten up the sauce for a little richness. And now that it’s still simmering, it’s starting to thicken up a bit. Now it’s all done. And there you have it, Salsbury steak in the instant pot.
