Delicious Italian Sausage Pasta In The Instant Pot
This Italian Sausage Pasta is an easy and quick recipe that can be made in the Instant Pot. It is perfect for a weeknight dinner or when you are looking for something different to make. The only thing you need to do is cook the pasta, brown the sausage and add everything to the pot! It’s so easy and delicious!
Ingredients
- Olive oil
- Large onion, chopped
- Bell pepper, chopped
- Garlic cloves, minced
- Dried thyme
- Smoked paprika
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
- Black pepper (optional)
- Salt
- Italian sausage (hot, mild, sweet…your choice)
- Can crushed tomatoes
- Pasta (any medium/short shape like rotini, fusilli, gemelli, farfalle, penne…)
- Chicken broth
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
- Parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley
Making The Italian Sausage Pasta In The Instant Pot
Set the Instant Pot to sauté mode and heat until it reads “hot.” Add the bell pepper, onions, and olive oil, and cook until the vegetables are soft.
Stir in the garlic, thyme, paprika, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and salt. Cook for another minute while stirring.
Add the Italian sausage, breaking it up as you mix, and cook until the meat is mostly browned.
Add a can of crushed tomatoes. Spread the mixture evenly but do not pack it down.
Evenly layer the pasta on top.
Pour the chicken broth all over the pasta. Just enough liquid should be poured to barely cover the pasta. The liquid will reach up and cook the pasta above as it steams.
Seal the pot and cook for 5 minutes on manual/high before doing a quick pressure release. Add the mozzarella cheese and stir until it has melted. Set the pot aside for 10 minutes to allow the sauce to absorb the cheese and thicken.
Garnish with fresh parsley and parmesan cheese and serve!
